IFC exchange: common coordinate and geometry problems
Large offsets, mixed coordinate reference assumptions, true-north/project-north confusion, unit mismatches, and inappropriate geometry representations can all make an IFC appear misplaced or malformed. Start by recording the authoring application, IFC schema/MVD, export settings, units, local origin, survey point, and any projected CRS metadata.
When debugging, compare one known control point in the source and target tools before changing coordinates. Separate a global placement issue from element-level geometry failure. If you share a sample, remove confidential properties and include the expected coordinates and tolerance.
